Finding a preceptor is one of the hardest parts of a PMHNP program. And when students do land one, too often the rotation is "log in, watch, get signed off." You complete the hours but leave still unsure how to actually run an assessment. That gap follows you into your first job.

The difference: we teach the mental status exam
The mental status exam is the core skill of psychiatric practice, and it's the one most students get the least hands-on coaching in. Meridian rotations focus there — including the hardest version of it: complex, geriatric, and non-verbal patients, where the real skill is reading the patient and asking caregivers the right questions. You'll build judgment you can use on day one of practice.
